About The System

Pure, Mineral-Free Water From Your Kitchen Tap

Sydney's mains water is treated and safe by regulatory standards, but it arrives at your tap containing chloramine, fluoride, trace heavy metals, and in some areas nitrates and PFAS. For households that cook, brew coffee, and drink directly from the tap every day, reverse osmosis is the most comprehensive solution available for residential use.

The Pure Balance uses a 50 GPD high-efficiency RO membrane to reject up to 98% of dissolved solids at the molecular level, including fluoride, chloramine, lead, copper, arsenic, nitrates, PFAS and microplastics. Stages 1 and 2, a 5-micron sediment cartridge and a 100% coconut carbon block, pre-treat the feed water and protect the membrane from chlorine and particles. The final stage is a 100% coconut carbon post-filter that polishes the water to a clean, naturally sweet taste.

Unlike a remineralising system, the Pure Balance does not add minerals back into the water. It is built for people who want the purest possible water with no added minerals, whether you simply prefer that clean taste or you remineralise your own water. If you would rather have minerals added and a balanced pH, the Pure Neutral system uses a calcium post-filter instead.

The 12-litre storage tank ensures water is always available on demand, no waiting for filtration to complete before you can fill a glass. The dedicated chrome filter tap is installed through your benchtop, and a 3-way mixer tap upgrade is available if you'd prefer one fixture over two.

Jean-Paul installs every Pure Balance system personally across Sydney. He's a licensed NSW plumber (Lic. 461511C), not a subcontractor, every installation is done by the same person who answers the phone. Fixed price of $840 covers system, tank, chrome filter tap, all fittings, and licensed installation. No hidden extras.

Filter Stage Breakdown

Four stages work in sequence to deliver pure, mineral-free water. Each stage has a specific role, from protecting the membrane to polishing the final taste.

1
GT2-2K
5-Micron Polyspun Sediment Filter
Pre-filter, Sediment, Particles, Silt
The first stage is a 5-micron melt-blown polypropylene sediment cartridge that removes physical particles from the feed water, sand, silt, rust, and suspended solids. Its primary job is to protect the coconut carbon pre-filter and the RO membrane from clogging, extending their life and maintaining flow performance. Replaced every 6 months in Sydney's mains water conditions.

2
GT4-7CTO
Coconut Carbon Block Pre-Filter
Pre-filter, Chlorine, Chloramine, Taste & Odour
A 5-micron 100% coconut carbon block pre-filter. Its dense carbon matrix takes the first hit, adsorbing chlorine, which is particularly damaging to the RO membrane, along with VOCs, herbicides, pesticides and chemical taste and odour. Keeping this filter fresh is crucial to protecting everything downstream. Replaced every 6 months.
ChloramineChlorineVOCsMembrane protection
3
GT36-59
50 GPD RO Membrane
Primary filter, 0.0001 micron, up to 98% TDS rejection
The heart of the system. This reverse osmosis membrane operates at 0.0001 microns, fine enough to reject up to 98% of dissolved contaminants including fluoride, lead, copper, arsenic, nitrates, PFAS, bacteria and cysts. It produces up to 190 litres of filtered water per day. Water molecules pass through; dissolved solids are flushed to drain. Typically replaced every 2 to 4 years depending on water quality.

4
GT6-21LS
100% Coconut Carbon Post-Filter
Post-filter, Final taste polish, No minerals added
The final stage is a high-grade 100% activated coconut carbon post-filter. It polishes the water after the membrane, removing any residual taste or odour and imparting a clean, naturally sweet finish. This stage adds no minerals back, so the water stays pure and mineral-free, ideal for those who prefer their water that way. Replaced every 12 months.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Reverse osmosis is one of the only residential filtration technologies proven to reduce fluoride effectively, removing up to 98% in a properly maintained system. Standard carbon and sediment filters cannot remove fluoride, which is a dissolved mineral salt that passes straight through most media. The RO membrane in the Pure Balance operates at 0.0001 microns, fine enough to reject fluoride ions along with the bulk of other dissolved solids.
Pure Balance finishes with a 100% coconut carbon post-filter rather than a mineral cartridge, so it does not add minerals back into the water. The result is pure, mineral-free water with a clean, naturally sweet taste. It suits people who prefer no added minerals, or who remineralise their own water. If you would rather have minerals added and a balanced pH, the Pure Neutral or Pure Plus+ systems include a remineralising post-filter instead.
A standard 4-stage reverse osmosis installation typically takes around 2 hours. Jean-Paul connects the system to your cold water supply, mounts the storage tank, drills a dedicated hole in your benchtop for the filter tap, and runs the drain line to your waste pipe. He walks you through the system before leaving, including how to change cartridges and when to schedule the next service.
The sediment and coconut carbon pre-filters are replaced every 6 months to protect the RO membrane. The coconut carbon post-filter is replaced every 12 months. The RO membrane lasts 2 to 4 years depending on your water quality and is checked at every service. Jean-Paul's annual service is $380 including all annual cartridges and labour, or DIY cartridges are $180 per year. Pre-filter service every 6 months is $220 professional or $70 DIY.
RO systems do produce some wastewater, typically 2 to 4 litres of drain water per litre of filtered output, depending on membrane quality and water pressure. This is an inherent characteristic of the reverse osmosis process. For a typical Sydney household drawing a few litres per day from the filter tap, the additional water usage is modest.
The RO membrane (0.0001 microns) rejects up to 98% of dissolved solids including fluoride, chloramine, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead, copper and arsenic, nitrates, PFAS, microplastics, bacteria and cysts. The coconut carbon block pre-filter protects the membrane by removing chlorine and chemical taste and odour, and the coconut carbon post-filter gives the water a final clean, naturally sweet polish before it reaches your glass.
Yes. Reverse osmosis water is used as primary drinking water by millions of households worldwide and is widely regarded as among the safest available. The minerals in a balanced diet provide far more than any tap water. If you would prefer minerals added back and a balanced pH for taste, the Pure Neutral system uses a calcium remineralising post-filter to lift the water to a neutral pH of 7 to 8.
